Coated paper is a type of paper that has undergone a coating process-applying one or more layers of coating material to its surface-to enhance surface characteristics, printability, and optical properties.

Chinese national standards provide clear classifications and specifications for coated paper, primarily including: GB/T 10335.1-2017 Coated Fine Art Printing Paper (Art Paper); GB/T 10335.2-2018 Lightweight Coated Paper; GB/T 10335.3-2018 Coated White Paperboard (Folding Boxboard); and GB/T 10335.4-2017 Coated White Paperboard . Additionally, the national standard GB/T 10335.6-XXXX, "Coated Paper and Paperboard-Water-based Coated Paper," is currently under development (the draft for comment was completed as of October 2022).
