Cupstock Paper

Cupstock paper, also known as paper cup base paper, is manufactured from food-grade virgin wood pulp paperboard with a functional barrier coating applied to replace the traditional PE plastic extrusion layer. The base paper offers high stiffness, excellent foldability, and a smooth surface, making it compatible with high-speed automatic cup and bowl forming machines. Finished paper cups hold hot and cold beverages reliably without leakage or softening. For hot drinks, the coating on the inner wall provides heat insulation and moisture resistance. For cold and frozen beverages, double-side coated grades prevent external condensation from weakening the cup body. The product meets food contact safety standards.

Cupstock paper is available in three main coating technologies. PE extrusion coated cups are cost-effective and widely used. PLA biodegradable coated cups use bio-based materials that are compostable. Water-based plastic-free coated cups contain no plastic film and can be repulped and recycled. The weight range covers 180 to 350 grams. Lighter grades (180–230 gsm) are used for standard cold cups and portion cups. Mid-range weights (230–280 gsm) are common for hot beverage cups and soup bowls. Heavier grades (280–350 gsm) are suited for double-wall insulated cups, paper bowls, fried chicken buckets, and food trays that require extra rigidity. The paper is supplied primarily in rolls, with sheet-cut options available upon request.
