Manufacturing base paper for tissue products requires controlling the ratio of softwood to hardwood fibers (ranging from 3:7 to 4:6) and adding sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)-at 0.5%–1.2% of the total mass-to enhance water solubility. The creping process utilizes a 45-degree angle doctor blade, increasing the paper's thickness threefold and boosting its longitudinal elongation by more than eightfold.
