Light Printing Paper

Light printing paper, also known as lightweight coated paper, is produced by applying a thin layer of mineral coating on both sides of a base paper made from mechanical pulp with some chemical pulp, then supercalendering. This thin coating structure gives paper print quality between woodfree paper and coated paper. Color printing results are close to coated paper, but the paper is lighter in weight and more cost-effective. The weight range is concentrated at 48 to 80 grams. The product is compatible with high-speed web printing and offset lithography, widely used for magazines, commercial advertising, product catalogs, and promotional printing in high-volume color printing applications.

Light printing paper fills the gap between woodfree paper and coated paper in print material selection. Compared to woodfree paper, it has a mineral coating on the surface, offering higher surface smoothness, better dot reproduction, and more vibrant colors, delivering color printing results close to coated paper. However, the coating is thin and not suitable for fountain pen writing, as ink does not dry or adhere easily. Compared to coated paper, light paper is lighter, has a thinner coating, and costs less, making it suitable for high-volume commercial printing that does not require long-term preservation. In the periodical and magazine industry, it is used for mass-market consumer magazines, fashion weeklies, lifestyle magazine inner pages, and comic periodicals. The lighter weight reduces the overall publication weight and lowers mailing costs. In newspaper inserts and direct mail advertising, it is used for newspaper insert advertisements, supermarket promotional inserts, commercial direct mail flyers, promotional flyers, and coupon booklets. In product catalogs and corporate promotional materials, it is used for industrial product catalogs, home furnishing and building materials catalogs, automotive parts catalogs, and retail brand product brochures. These applications are image-heavy, high-volume, and do not require permanent preservation. In supermarket retail promotional materials, it is used for supermarket promotional posters, event brochures, product news, and e-commerce promotion booklets. In books and creative products, it is used for popular leisure books, comic book inner pages, exhibition catalogs, and event guides.
