Kraft Tape Base Paper

Kraft tape base paper is a specialized base paper for producing kraft paper tape. Made from natural brown kraft with long fibers, the paper offers excellent tear resistance, high machine-direction tensile strength, and uniform formation. The product categories include water-activated tape base paper and self-adhesive tape base paper, available in standard and reinforced (fiberglass filament) grades. The weight range covers 70 to 130 grams. Adhesives are applied downstream to produce kraft paper sealing tape. The product serves as a core base material for the adhesive tape industry. Unlike ordinary packaging kraft paper, which has insufficient tensile strength and tends to tear or shed fibers after adhesive coating, it is specifically optimized in terms of tensile strength, formation, and adhesive absorption.

Grades of 70–80 gsm are used for standard self-adhesive kraft tape base, suitable for e-commerce small parcel sealing, light splicing, and DIY craft tape. They offer good flexibility and hand-tearability. Grades of 90–110 gsm are the market standard, used for mainstream self-adhesive kraft tape base and water-activated kraft tape base with the highest market volume. They are suitable for e-commerce warehouse standard carton sealing, can be printed with logos and warning text, and offer good processing stability for automatic case sealers. Grades of 120–130 gsm are thicker and reinforced grades, used for heavy-duty and fiberglass-reinforced kraft tape base with internal fiber or fiberglass reinforcement. They offer very high tensile strength, suitable for heavy cargo, ocean export, and large logistics carton reinforcement. They are also used for water-activated heavy-duty sealing tape, which develops stronger adhesion when activated with water and offers tamper-evident functionality. In downstream finished applications, kraft tape is widely used for e-commerce logistics and warehouse carton sealing, cargo reinforcement, brand gift box sealing and decoration, art mounting and bookbinding, and export cargo sealing where plastic BOPP tape replacement is required.
